NEW FORMAT FOR NESS OPEN SHOWS - NESS is running back-to-back Open Shows on the same day at Eggborough Village Hall. The shows will give exhibitors the chance to enter under 2 judges on the same day, with reduced entry fees if both shows are entered with the same dog.

Also, the classification has been reduced at each show, with some of the Dog & Bitch classes combined to increase class sizes which will help exhibitors towards winning Junior Warrant points.

The committee welcomes any feedback on the new format initiative.

NESS Committee are pleased to provide a short resume for our
Open Show Judge

Mr Nigel Bryant (Phenset)

Despite being bitten in the rear as a 4 year old, I decided that a dog would be a good substitute for rowing when I retired from that sport. I purchased my first English Setter as a pet in 1975 and soon found out about dog shows. In 1976 I acquired a Hurwyn bitch with the intention of showing. I had small successes with her and went on to have a litter. Keeping a bitch from the litter we bred again and 2 of her offspring entered the stud book. My current line goes back to a bitch purchased in 2000 with Phenset Blue Max our first home bred champion. I have also owned 3 Clumber Spaniels and 2 of them gained their titles in the 90’s.

I first judged English Setters at open shows in 1988 and have since judged at that level many times. I have also judged Clumber Spaniels at open and championship level having given CCs twice. At open shows I have also judged 10 other gundog breeds.

I regularly steward and have done so at open and championship shows. Although never actually working any of my dogs, I enjoy watching setters and spaniels in competition in the field and in the woods. I am a committee member of 4 show societies and am one of the South East representatives on the Kennel Clubs Show Liaison Council.

I feel extremely honoured to have been asked by the NESS committee to judge at this show.
